A COURT has sentenced a Penrith shoplifter who stole Prosecco, cheeseburgers, and a bottle of "Captain Morgan" rum.

David Ostle, 31, stole the items - valued at £10.56 - from the B&M store in Penrith on November 18 last year.

At Carlisle's Rickergate Magistrates' Court, he pleaded gulty to theft.

After hearing details, magistrates imposed an £80 fine, with £85 prosecution costs and an order to compensation the store to the tune of £10.56. There was no victim surcharge imposed because priority was given to compensation.
