A MAN who was caught with £15,000 worth of cannabis while travelling on the M6 near Penrith has admitted having the Class B drug with intent to supply.
Islam Mema, 22, admitted the charge when he appeared before a judge at Carlisle Crown Court. The defendant was caught on November 4 last year. He also pleaded guilty to possessing criminal property – namely £3,360 in cash.
The defendant, from Cordwainers Walk, London, was represented by defence barrister Judith McCullough, who asked that a pre-sentence report be prepared.
Recorder Julian Shaw ordered that report from the Probation Service and adjourned the sentencing hearing until April 1. The defendant, appearing via a video link from a prison, will remain remanded in custody until that day.
