Botcherby Community Centre has been announced as a home for a free donated prom wear pick up, sparing families less fortunate with a heavy expense.

Organiser of You Sall Go To The Ball, Anne Crook, felt their was a need for the drive after receiving an overwhelming response to helping out one girl get her hands on a prom dress when in need.

Since then, donations have been flowing in for annual upcycling event, also with Morrisons and Tesco onboard with the drive.

"There's so many people already struggling and will be worrying about the increases in prices, there's so much going on really.

"We just wanted to take the pressure of families and carers as soon as we could really.

"It's very emotional to be able to see these young people almost grow in stature when they get in their prom outfits and just to see that they're going to feel a million dollars on their prom night and enjoy it, just like everyone else, because they are," she said.

The upcycling offer is open to anyone looking for support to get prom wear for your young person.

The event will be held April, 23 and if you're interested message You Sall Go To The Ball Carlisle on Facebook, with child's initials, whether a dress or suit is needed and the approximate size.
