A CITY park has been damaged by vandals, it was reported this week.

The grounds at Chances Park, Wigton Road were damaged, according to the reports, with newly-laid grass being churned up by bikes.

A well, located in the park, was also targeted.

One resident asked: “What is happening to Carlisle? Where are the police? We need some form of vigilante group.”

Another suggested bringing back the park wardens and locking the gates at dusk. "One day they will pick on the wrong person for sure then the police will have to do something.”

Carlisle City Council have not yet commented on this report.
