FIRE: Within English Street, Longtown area at 5.30am, March, 18.
Fire crews from both Carlisle East and Longtown were called to a property fire on English Street, Longtown at approximately 5.30am.
A spokesperson from Carlisle East Fire Station said: "In attendance crews discovered that a fire in the rear courtyard of a property was well alight, and had spread inside an annex of the property.
"Some good initial work from the Longtown crew brought the fire under control and stopped what could have been an extremely serious fire.
"Crews are still on scene making the scene safe, and the cause of the blaze is under investigation," they said.
