COMEDIAN Ed Gamble is set to shock Carlisle audiences (in the right way) as he brings his new show to Cumbria.
The co-host of podcast Off Menu and Taskmaster series nine champion will perform his new show ‘Electric’ at the Sands Centre on Wednesday, April 6.
Discussing the show, Ed said: “It’s been going very well so far and we’re nearly halfway through.
"It’s a very silly show where I speak about what I’ve been up to over the last couple of years as well as some ridiculous observations and stories since my last tour.
"It’s definitely the funniest show I’ve written so far, and I’ve loved performing it to audiences.
“It’s obviously been difficult to speak about what I’ve been up to with the pandemic and all comedians want to do is discuss what’s been happening over the last two years, without everyone sounding the same.
“I got married last year and there’s also a long routine about an experience with a buffet breakfast.
"I will always find something to talk about even if it seems like nothing has happened.”
Sharing how online content helped during the pandemic, Ed continued: “Live streaming was such a godsend for comedians and audiences alike.
"There’s so many podcasts out now, some good, some bad, and it’s another string to a comedian’s bow. I don’t think it’s going to stop people performing live though, it’s just another thing to do.
“I love being out and performing to audiences, there’s no way you can recreate that experience. The podcasts are also a massive part of my life and I can’t see that changing any time soon.”
Discussing his previous visits to the city, Ed finished: “I came to Carlisle on my last tour for the 'Blizzard' show. It was in a very small venue and from what I can remember it was the rowdiest show of the tour.
"It was in a fun way however - audiences can be loud and can heckle and it can be quite disruptive - but in Carlisle, I remember it being such a fun evening and I can’t wait to come back.”
Tickets for ‘Electric’ cost £22.50 and are available through Ticketmaster.
