There are several road closures and works being done across Cumbria this week, beginning March 21, that may cause disruption to your journey.

Data taken from Traffic England shows various closures across the M6 and A66.

We’ve listed the active and future roadworks set to affect Cumbria this week.

M6 closures

  • M6 southbound between junctions J43 and J42 – One lane will be closed until March 28.
  • M6 southbound between junctions J42 and J41 – Two lanes will be closed from 8pm March 21 until 5am March 22.
  • M6 southbound entry slip at junction J41 – One lane will be closed until 6am April 14.
  • M6 southbound between junctions J41 and J39 – Two lanes will be closed everyday between 8pm and 6am, March 21-26.
  • M6 southbound exit slip at junction J40 – Both lanes will be closed during the period 8pm to 6am, March 23-26
  • M6 northbound between junctions J39 and J40 – Two lanes will be closed from 8pm on March 25 until 6am March 26.
  • M6 southbound between junctions J40 and J39 – Three lanes will be closed from 8pm on March 25 until 6am March 26. They will close again 8pm March 26 until 6am March 27.
  • M6 southbound entry slip at junction J38 – Both lanes will be closed between from 8pm March 25 until 5am March 26.
  • M6 northbound entry slip at junction J38 - Both lanes will be closed between from 8pm March 25 until 5am March 26.
  • M6 northbound between junctions J37 and J38 – One lane will be closed between 8am on March 23 until 8pm the same day.
  • M6 southbound between junctions J37 and J36 – All three lanes will be closed during the following period: 8pm until 6am, March 24-26.
  • M6 southbound exit slip at junction J36 – Two lanes will be closed between 8pm-6am, March 24-26.
  • M6 southbound entry slip at junction J36 – Two lanes will be closed between 8pm-6am, March 24-26.

A66 closures

  • A66 westbound between the junctions with the A591 north of Keswick and the A5086 – This road will be closed everyday between March 23 to 25, between 8pm to 5am.
  • A66 eastbound between the junctions with the A5086 and the A591 north of Keswick – This road will be closed from 5am March 24 until 8pm the same day.
  • A66 westbound exit slip to the A591 east of Keswick – The exit slip will be closed between 8pm March 23 until 5am March 24.
  • A66 eastbound between the junctions with the A592 and the M6 – One lane will be closed from 8pm March 22 until 5am March 23.
