THE motorcyclist who died in a tragic road traffic collision on Wigton Road in Carlisle on Monday has this evening been named by Cumbria Police.
Police say the rider of the Suzuki motorycle who died following a collision with a Ford Transit van has been named as 33-year-old Jason Farmer from Carlisle.
A stretch of Wigton Road near to Richard Rose Morton Academy was cordoned off until 8pm while a police forensic collision team conducted an investigation.
A Police spokesman said: "Jason Farmer, 33, of Carlisle, died at the scene of the collision, which involved a Suzuki motorcycle and an orange Ford Transit van.
"The road was closed for several hours while a forensic collision investigation was conducted."
Meanwhile Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, adding: "Anyone with any information or who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Sergeant 1962 Vickers or PC 2414 Brockbank on 101 - or email SCIU@cumbria.police.uk quoting log 129 of March 21."
