MORE DETAIL has been given on plans to build five homes in Moorhouse.

A reserved matters planning application, which provides more detail on plans previously considered by the council, has been received for land off Fair Lea in Moorhouse, Carlisle.

Messrs Norman, as the applicant, have submitted the detailed plans to Carlisle City Council for approval.

The outline application was approved by the city council in 2020.

If plans are approved at the reserved matters stage, five homes will be constructed on land adjacent and to the south and west of Fair Lea.

The application site lies at the southern tip of the village of Moorhouse.

In the design and access statement, the applicants said: “The predominant external material proposed is a red brick to match the local vernacular; and each house includes feature stone detailing in a red or buff colour to new window sills, window heads and front door surrounds. New dual pitched roofs are proposed to be finished with natural slate and clay ridge tiles.

“New windows and doors are proposed to have white coloured frames and clear glazing throughout (except to bathrooms or ensuite shower rooms). Rainwater and foul drainage goods are to be black coloured.”

The plans include creating a new vehicular and pedestrian access from the Moorhouse to Great Orton Road.

Each new dwelling will be accessed via a new central access road and pavement.

“Architecturally, the new dwellings typically have a traditional front elevation to the new shared site access road; with symmetrical front facades and traditionally styled new windows and a central front door.

“Individual dwelling car parking is provided within private driveways for each house; and shared visitor parking is also proposed.”

Whitfield Architects are handling the application as the agent.
