PLANS have been submitted to change the operation of a hotel in Carlisle into an 11-bed luxury shared living accommodation.

Carlisle City Council has received a change of use application to convert Corner House Hotel into the shared accommodation.

In their planning statement, the applicant, Vindamora Property Limited, set out the market for the home in multiple occupation (HMO).

“The market for this HMO are for working professionals in the local area and align with the Heaney Homes Portfolio of high quality luxury shared living spaces.

"Heaney Homes the managing agent across the North of England for shared living include in the ASTs that any persistent antisocial behaviour will result in termination of ASTs to ensure community cohesion.”

The accommodation will feature three separate shared living zones in excess of the minimum HMO standards.

Changes will be made to the property to ensure it is an efficient business.

“The property will comply with building regulations. A period of updating to the property will include more efficient central heating and hot water systems, improved fire detection systems and modernisation of the shared living spaces. Raising the standard of accommodation in the area.”

Vindamora said that this provides “ample living space combined with large to extra-large bedrooms.”

They said: “As the guest house can accommodate 20 guests (10 bedrooms) we are seeking to create 11 single occupancy ensuite bedrooms. This will reduce the impact of traffic and reduce the short stay traffic on the street.”

A covered and secure cycle rack will be available to the rear of the property.

Regular maintenance will be carried out by an in-house maintenance team and communal bins backing straight onto the highway will be in place.

The applicant added: “Cleaners visit the properties weekly/fortnightly to ensure high standards of the properties.”
