AS it's Mother's Day, it makes sense we feature a thriving mother-and-daughter business.
And there's no better example than the full-commitment coffee and cake shop, I Love Cafe, on Fisher Street, Carlisle - which has three generations of the Birkett family involved in its success.
Whilst most businesses struggled during lockdown, Charlotte and Kerry Birkett put a large part of what their business has become today down to the pandemic.
With the doors shut, the cafe grew an appetite for catering to all sorts of Hallmark Holidays, with their captivatingly crumbly cakes home delivered: the only struggle however, was keeping up with demand.
"When we opened up after lockdown, it's been like a different place because of the increased awareness - its honestly made us what we are today, even though it can be absolutely manic.
"We did so many orders during lockdown, we've honed it back for now and we're just taking it as we are," Kerry said.
Charlotte and Kerry are in charge of taking on the mantle of the heavily popular sweet-toothed traybakes, whilst Kerry's mum takes control of baking cakes and scones.

"My mum was always really into baking so originally, she was going to be in charge of that side of things, but when we took over we realised it was too much for one person, we all had to get involved," she said.
Not only has the cafe become home to a revolving door of customers, but it has also helped Charlotte overcome issues in dealing with anxiety.
"Charlotte had really bad anxiety and she couldn't work for two years before coming to the cafe. The previous owner, Sophie, was really good to Charlotte and helped her overcome her anxiety - the cafe really saved her in a way," she said.
The business prides itself on no two days being the same in terms of their creative output when it comes to to their sweet and delectable recipes- of which the choice is endless.
"The difference with our cafe is all of our cakes are homemade, although a lot of cafes do that as well, we just feel it's a lovely cozy environment with people always coming in for a bit crack - it's really just a safe place," she said.
