There are several road closures and works being done across Cumbria this week, beginning March 14, that may cause disruption to your journey.

Data taken from Traffic England shows various closures across the M6 and A590.

We’ve listed the active and future roadworks set to affect Cumbria this week.

M6 closures

  • M6 southbound between junctions J44 and J43 – One lane will be closed between 8pm March 27 and 5am April 2.
  • M6 northbound between junctions J43 and J44 - One lane will be closed between 8pm March 27 and 5am April 2.
  • M6 southbound entry slip at junction J41 – One lane will be closed until 6am April 14.
  • M6 southbound between junctions J41 and J39 – Two lanes will be closed from 8pm March 27 until 6am March 29.
  • M6 southbound between junctions J40 and J39 – One lane will be closed from 10pm March 29 until 6am March 30.
  • M6 northbound between junctions J39 and J40 – One lane will be closed from 10pm March 29 until 6am March 30.
  • M6 northbound between junctions J39 and J41 – One lane will be closed from 8pm March 29 until 6am March 30.
  • M6 northbound between junctions J39 and J40 – One lane will be closed during the periods 6am April 1 – 8pm April 1, 6am April 2 – 8pm April 2 and every day between April 5 and 8 during 6am-8pm.
  • M6 southbound between junctions J39 and J37 – Two lanes will be closed every day between April 6 – 8 during the time 8pm-6am.
  • M6 northbound between junctions J37 and J39 - Two lanes will be closed every day between April 6 – 8 during the time 8pm-6am.
  • M6 southbound between junctions J37 and J36 – One lane will be closed between 8pm March 31 until 11pm April 1.
  • M6 northbound between junctions J36 and J37 - One lane will be closed between 8pm March 31 until 11pm April 1.
  • M6 southbound between junctions J37 and J36 – All three lanes will be closed between 8pm March 28 and 6am March 29.
  • M6 southbound entry slip at junction J36 - Both lanes will be closed between 8pm March 28 and 6am March 29.
  • M6 southbound exit slip at junction J36 - Both lanes will be closed between 8pm March 28 and 6am March 29.
  • M6 southbound between junctions J36 and J35 – Three lanes will be closed between 8pm March 28 and 6am March 29.

A590 closures

  • A590 eastbound between the junctions with the A5074 and the A6 – One lane will be closed from 7:30am on March 28 until 4pm the same day.
  • A590 eastbound between the A5074 and the junction with the A591 – One lane will be closed from 7:30am on March 31 until 5pm the same day.
  • A590 westbound between the junctions with the A591 and the A6 – One lane will be closed from 7:30am on March 28 until 4:30pm the same day.
  • A590 eastbound between the junctions with the A591 and the M6 - One lane will be closed on March 30 from 7:30am until 5pm the same day.
