AN EDEN Valley motorist has been fined and given a six-month ban after his careless driving caused a serious accident.
Bradley Mattinson, 22, of Low Green, Temple Sowerby, committed the offence on Sunday, August 1 last year, Carlisle’s Rickergate Magistrates’ Court heard.
He pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention.
The charge states that he was driving a Toyota car on the A592 at Dalemain when the accident happened.
The court heard that Mattinson took a bend 'too fast' while on the wrong side of the road.
The charge adds: “The vehicle, containing two adults and two young children, that you collided with caught the impact on the driver’s side.
“Serious injuries were caused to the occupants which resulted in them going to hospital. Both vehicles caught fire.”
As well as imposing the ban, magistrates fined the defendant £232 with £110 costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
