BOXING fans in Carlisle have been warned that an upcoming event with a former IBF welterweight champion is close to becoming a sell-out.

IM Events will bring Kell Brook to the city’s Halston Aparthotel on Friday, June 24 for ‘An Evening with Special K’.

The 35-year-old held the IBF title from 2014-2017, and once challenged for the world middleweight title in a unification match in 2016. He was also the British welterweight champion from 2008 to 2010 and was once named the world’s best active welterweight boxer by The Ring magazine.

With a professional record of 40 wins, 28 by knockout, and three losses, Brook’s last fight came against bitter rival Amir Khan in Manchester at the end of February.

Deemed as a match that was 17 years in the making, Brook secured the win, knocking out his opponent in the sixth round in what was a very one-sided bout. Not content with his performance, Khan has since demanded a rematch against his former sparring partner.

During the event in Carlisle, Kell will discuss his professional career and take questions from audience members. An auction, raffle and live comedian will also keep guests entertained throughout the evening.

"He has had a fantastically successful professional boxing career for 18 years and the recent fight versus Amir Khan showed that he is still at the top of his game and he will speak about his plans for the future, off the back of his last fight, and the ups and downs during his career.

"We have had a fantastic response to the event and there are limited tickets available but they are available via ticketsource.

"The evening with Kell follows on from the events we have done with Ricky Hatton, Nigel Benn, Frank Bruno, Tyson Fury, Chris Eubank and John Fury.

"We want to bring the biggest names to Carlisle and these events have always been well supported," he said.
