A CHILDREN'S author whose debut book was inspired by her time in the Lake District has been visiting schools across the county this week.
Eve Wersocki Morris has recently released her new children's novel 'The Bird Singers', which is set in the county.
Inspired by childhood summers spent walking, camping and sailing in the Lake District, the book is described as a 'thrilling mystery adventure set in a rain-soaked cottage in the Cumbrian wilderness'.
This week, Eve teamed up with Bookends in Carlisle and Keswick to visit four primary schools in the area where she has been leading events and 'inspiring a whole new generation of writers'.
Earlier in the week she visited Yewdale Primary School and Newtown Primary School in Carlisle, and she's also visited Austin Friar's in Carlisle and and St Herbert's in Keswick.
Eve grew up in London and has been making up stories her whole life, she says. Although she was diagnosed with dyslexia aged 12, she has not let that stop her ambitions.
At age 13 she wrote her first full novel.
She went on to study English at Nottingham University where she wrote, directed and performed in plays and was arts editor of the student magazine.
She volunteers with Coram Beanstalk Literacy Charity as a reading helper for children, and has written book reviews for Stylist, Times Literature Supplement and The Bookseller.
