THE MAYOR of Carlisle Pam Birks invited members of Carlisle Gamers to the Parlour this week.
The not for profit group is run for by members who organise boardgames, roleplaying games and table-top wargaming using traditional methods as well as a modern video tabletop for enhanced play.
Carlisle Gamers has almost 1,000 online members, as well as being one of only three specialist gaming centres in the country.
The mayor gave a full guided tour of the historical artefacts on display. Some of the members were able to hold a 16th Century venetian sword, reminiscent of the city’s strong links to the story of King Arthur as they stood in the middle of the round table in the Slupsk room at the Civic Centre.
Since the visit, members of the group have been generous in donating games for our soon to arrive Ukranian refugees.
Pam Birks said: “What a fabulous group, coming together to create an organisation to meet the needs of all ages interested in Gaming.
“They were an absolute pleasure to meet and have put Carlisle on the international map in gaming.”
