COMEDY fans of Carlisle were treated to a hilarious night out this week as Ed Gamble brought his new show to the Sands Centre.
The Off Menu host stopped past Cumbria in the middle of his Electric tour, a show he has already performed on every corner of the United Kingdom.
Before Gamble took to the stage, the crowd were treated to support act Chloe Petts, who was introduced by Ed Gamble as ‘one of his favourite comedians on the circuit’.
Petts got proceedings off to a hilarious start, sharing how she became obsessed with The Chase during lockdown, to the point where she would watch episodes every day. The comic would later find out that someone in the front row had actually appeared on the show and won £4,500.
The main event arrived after an interval for his hour-long performance.
Of course, the majority of Gamble’s show centred around the pandemic. He was due to marry his fiancee as soon as Covid forced everything into lockdown, the wedding was moved to a second date which, of course, had to be rescheduled once again.
The funnyman shared the absurdity of preparing to spend the rest of his life with the one woman and how the worst form of practice for it was by being locked up with her over a two-year period. A stay-at-home hen do was enjoyed more by one member of the household, however not by the one it was made for.
Gamble would later discuss his love of heavy metal and his excitement over being asked to perform at Download Festival, where he failed to impress the hairy punters with his routine but had them cheering as he took out his diabetes kit to draw blood.
After putting a heckler in his place for his mistimed shouts, Ed finished his show by discussing his love of a budget hotel buffet breakfast, and how the attraction of the continental selection is a tremendous let down.
The comedian has gathered a strong fanbase through his podcasts, and left everyone at the Sands Centre in fits of giggles with his tales of pandemic living.
Ed Gamble has announced that he has extended his Electric tour and tickets are available on his website.
