A CAMPAIGN group has received further support from a local business as a limited range of soaps has become available.

Brampton business Sarah’s Soapery have launched the ‘Save Our Baths’ soap to support the campaign to save the city’s Turkish Baths on James Street. The soaps are all zero-waste, zero-packaging products that are free from toxins and detergents.

Discussing how the arrangement came together, Julie Minns from Friends of Carlisle Victorian and Turkish Baths said: “Sarah got in touch with us and offered to produce a new variety of soaps for the campaign which was incredibly generous.”

When asked how it feels to have local businesses show their support behind the campaign, Julie continued: “It’s really exciting. For us, it is a demonstration of the pride that local people and businesses have of the Baths being in the city. They are sharing the levels of pride and passion that we feel about the Baths.

“It’s just incredible that businesses in the area, like Sarah’s Soapery, are donating items completely for free. I visited Castle Chocolates recently and Keith shared that they are selling the Baths chocolates across the country, so our message is being heard all over.

“It’s shows what a fantastic place the city is. Carlisle is full of warm-hearted people who are proud of the city and that’s what we’re trying to do with the Turkish Baths. We want to make sure it isn’t lost because it is a gem and we think that the more people who know about it, the more people will come to Carlisle and see just how nice a city it is.”

Julie hopes the number of visitors continues to grow over the Easter period. She shared: “Usage has increased month on month since the Baths reopened in July and the number of people who have visited has doubled. We’re starting to see people visiting for the first time. It’s a fantastic place to relax and meet people. Everyone who comes says that there’s something special about the Baths and we look forward to having people over the Easter break.”

The soaps will be available to purchase at tours of the Baths from Sunday, April 10, and other Friends of Carlisle's Victorian & Turkish Baths events.
