COCKERMOUTH traders have created a fabulous Easter film promoting all that the town has to offer for a holiday or 'staycation'.
The film has been made by Cockermouth & District Chamber of Trade, using the talents of chamber member Penny Watson, who is a photographer and videographer.
The team hopes it will inspire holidaymakers to visit and enjoy everything Cockermouth and the surrounding area has to offer.
The story stars the Bryant Family, twins Esme and Livi, aged seven, Harlen, four, dad Luke and Benny the dog.
Dad and the family have come to Cockermouth for a weekend break, while mum Claire is away with work.
The Bryants stay at the Wellington Farm Glamping Breaks on the outskirts of town.
The film shows Harlen waking up early, after arriving after dark the previous evening, to see the fabulous views towards the fells from their holiday home.
Luke has planned a day in and around Cockermouth. The family set off to explore Bassenthwaite Lake, then go for lunch to the nearby Bassenthwaite Lake Station Café where they have lunch aboard the Orient Express.
The next stop is just outside the town centre for a visit to Fitz Park Alpacas, to walk alpacas around the beautiful Fitz fields and woods.
The family then stroll to town to shop. A visit to the National Trust’s Wordsworth House and Garden completes their day out before heading back to their weekend home.
Penny said: “I love living here so it is always a pleasure promoting our lovely town and surrounding area to others.
"There is so much to offer visitors who come to holiday here both in Cockermouth, but also with the lakes and coast just a stone’s throw away.
"We’re spoiled for choice really with places to go, things to do and some amazing places to shop and eat, you could easily spend a whole summer based here quite happily. ”
The film was supported by the Welcome Back Fund, part of European Regional Development Funding, through Cockermouth Town Council and Allerdale Borough Council.
Suzanne Elsworth, chamber publicity officer, said: “It’s been a real team effort to bring this film to life and I already want to holiday in my home town! This is a heart-warming film starring the lovely Bryant family who absolutely steal the show.
"It showcases Cockermouth and what it has to offer for a holiday, beautiful north lakes scenery; luxury accommodation, fabulous attractions to entertain all the family and restaurant, cafes, and independent shops to explore.
“I hope we have given everyone just a taste of what Cockermouth and the surrounding district has to offer for a holiday in the north Lakes.
"We love our town and, just as the film says, we want everyone to ‘love our local’.”
