A BREWERY has announced that they have brewed a new beer to raise money for the humanitarian fund for Ukraine.
Hesket Newmarket Brewery have teamed up with Lviv-based brewers Pravda to brew one of the Ukrainian company’s lagers on cask, with all profits going to the Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal.
Discussing the move, brewery manager Nathan Gregory shared: “Several weeks ago, we saw a Ukrainian brewer on the news appealing to other brewers all over the world to help the people of Ukraine.
Like you, we have been appalled at what Putin is doing to Ukraine and its people and after seeing this report we knew how we could help.

“The Pravda brewery have had to stop producing beer for the time being. They have released their recipes and artwork to the world and have asked the global family of brewers to brew and sell their beer, passing on any profits to a relief fund.
“We are proud to be able to do something practical and to be able to use our skills to support the Pravda brewery at this most horrific of times. We have brewed a lower strength cask version of their beer called Putin Huylo and we are donating all our profits from its sale.
We are also asking customers to donate the spare change (or more if they can) from buying a pint of the beer so that we can maximise the help we give.
“The name of the beer has become a popular football chant in Ukraine since 2014 when Putin first invaded Crimea and armed the separatists in the Donbas region of Ukraine. We will leave it up to you to find a translation but it’s not very complimentary!
“The beer is a light coloured, continental-style beer that uses gentle hop flavours and bitterness and is spiced with a little coriander.”
The brewery is launching Putin Huylo in The Old Crown, Hesket Newmarket, on Friday, April 15. It will then be available to all pubs the following week, including tasting notes and other information about the venture.
Staff will collect all donations from pubs when they collect the empty casks, and then pass it to The Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
