A SIXTY-year-old man from south Cumbria has appeared before a Carlisle court accused of breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
Christopher Williams is accused of committing all three offences in Millom on dates this year and last year. Appearing in the dock of the Rickergate court on Saturday, the defendant entered not guilty pleas to all three allegations.
The charges allege that:
* He allowed a person he is prohibited from having contact with to attend his property to help him with a practical task between March 11 this year and April 1.
* That he did the same thing between September 1 last year and November 1 last year.
* And that during the same time period the defendant “got up uncomfortably close” to the same person in a Bargain Booze store in Millom.
The charge states also that the defendant was prohibited from such behaviours by Hyndburn Magistrates Court on March 28, 2007, when the sexual harm prevention order was imposed.
The defendant, of Devonshire Bungalows, Millom, was remanded in custody and his case was sent to Preston Crown Court for trial. Williams will appear at that court on May 6, magistrates ruled. He was remanded to Durham Prison.
Sexual harm prevention orders usually prohibit a person from having unsupervised contact with children.
