Malcolm Ferguson, Charmian of the Border Woodturners explained: “Our President Ian Forster, saw an article about a woodturning club in the south of England doing wig stands and thought it would be something worthwhile for us to do.
“He collected some scrap wood from a building site and recycled it into pieces that could be turned into wig stands. Each one is made by a different person, so each one is unique, and we hope will be appreciated and useful to those who need them.”
Jane Macfarlane, Living with and Beyond Cancer Coordinator said: “I was absolutely delighted with this amazing offer.
“Many people suffer hair loss due to cancer treatments and it can be a very difficult and emotional thing to go through. Having these wonderful wig stands will make this whole experience a little easier and knowing that someone cares enough to make them is just so heart-warming.
“I can’t wait to offer them to people who need a little cheer, they will be snapped up!”
The wig stands will be handed over at the Border Woodturners AGM on Sunday, May 15 at 10am at Brampton Community Centre.
