FOUR Carlisle neighbours are in the money after their addresses scooped them a share of £180,000 in the People’s Postcode Lottery.
The winners all live in the area covered by the CA2 6PZ poscode, which came out on top when the lottery result was officially announced today. Two residents each netted a £30,000 cash prize.
The other two neighbours from the Morton Park area of the city were even lucker, doubling their prize to £60,000 each because they bought two tickets.
One of the winners, a retired factory worker, who wants to remain anonymous, was taken aback with good news, commenting: “It’s a shock - but it’s a lovely shock.”
The winner said they would share some of their winnings with their grandchildren, paying for a holiday. They also plan to buy one of them a car as a reward for passing their driving test.
“They usually go to Turkey," said the winner. "But one of my grandsons is doing his driving test. I'd like to buy him a little car. A second-hand car for when he’s passed his test.”
Another anonymous winner responded to getting the good news with humour. When asked what they felt about the win they said: “It feels alright… but when the lady phoned me, I asked her why she had missed a zero off!
“I’m very pleased; I’ll tell you that.”
The winner jokingly added: “You know what you could do, you could draw my postcode out again!”
The other winners also chose to remain anonymous.
People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt sent her well-wishes to the winners. She said: “I’m buzzing for our winners in Carlisle. A big congrats to each of them. I’m sure they’ll celebrate tonight.”
People’s Postcode Lottery costs £10 a month to play and there are guaranteed winners every day. People play with their chosen postcode and are automatically entered into all draws.
Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have helped raise over £900 million to date for thousands of good causes across Britain and internationally.
This draw was promoted on behalf of Postcode International Trust. Through grant funding, the trust supports the creation of sustainable solutions that alleviate poverty, hunger and enable food security. Funded charities include Action Against Hunger, Care International UK, and Oxfam.
