AN INCIDENT on a suburban Carlisle street which saw a major investigation by emergency services on Sunday appears to have involved a building fire, Cumbria Fire and Rescue have confirmed.
Emergency services including police and crime scene investigators were at the scene on Pennington Drive in the north of the city most of the day yesterday.
A spokesperson from the fire service said: "At 08:54 hours on April 24, 2022, three fire engines attended a domestic premises on Pennington Drive, Carlisle.

"The fire involved a ground floor living room of a property and firefighters used four breathing apparatus and one positive pressure ventilation fan.
"Fire crews were in attendance for approximately three hours."
Yesterday Cumbria Police cordoned off the property and a forensic tent was installed as an investigation got underway.
The area is usually a quiet part of the city and residents in the area expressed their shock.
Cumbria Police have been approached for comment.
