A PENRITH karate club is set to re-open after an 8 year hiatus.
Penrith's Chojinkai Karate Club, that was first opened by 9th Dan Doug James in 1976, is re-opening with the next generation of Chojinkai Instructors taking it forward.
Carlisle-based 5th Dan Mark Heaton will be reopening the club alongside his son Lewis, 2nd Dan, with classes for Little Dragons aged 4 years & above, at the Hunter Hall School every Thursday from 5:45pm from May 5, offering 5 weeks of 'Free Come & Try' classes.
The founder of the Cumbrian based Chojinkai karate Doug James said: "I am delighted that Mark & Lewis are bringing Chojinkai Karate back to Penrith.
"Mark runs his own successful clubs in Carlisle, Brampton & Wigton & has been a personal student of mine for 23 years since he started aged 14.
"His son Lewis now 18, started at 4 years old and is regarded as Chojinkai karate's 'Original Little Dragon'.He is a massive inspiration & role model to all our younger students and will be teaching at all of the classes.”
