A CARLISLE man accused of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child has chosen to have his case sent to the city’s crown court.
Neil Perrett, 62, appeared before the city’s Rickergate Magistrates’ Court today and entered a not guilty plea to the allegation he faces.
The charge states that the defendant, of Borland Avenue, Botcherby, committed the offence in 2020, between November 1, 2020 and November 11.
Prosecutors alleged that he intentionally attempted to communicate with a female child and the nature of the communication was sexual.
Magistrates sent the case to Carlisle Crown Court for an initial hearing on May 27 after the defendant elected to have his trial before a jury there. Perrett was granted bail on condition that he has no unsupervised contact with any child.
