A local motor club has won a prestigious award.
The Wigton Motor Club, home to keen motorist in the west Cumbrian town and beyond, received the award for coming second in the Motor Club of the Year award.
The chairman of Motorsport UK, David Richards, flew into Cumbria to present the award to the club.
Motorsport UK, formerly known as the Motor Sports Association, is the national membership organisation and governing body for four-wheel motorsport in the United Kingdom, representing competitors, volunteers, clubs and fans.
David Richards landed his helicopter at the Motor House at Moota to attend the annual awards buffet held by the club and in a speech outlined the radical changes that were being made in the governing body of motorsport in the UK.
He also congratulated the club on running a first aid course for marshals, funded by MSUK.
