A 50 year old man from Carlisle has died following the crash on Stanwix Bank on May 2, police have now confirmed.
Neil Errington sadly died in the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle yesterday (May 12) after fighting life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash.
The crash on the busy road involved a white Mercedes A45, a blue BMW 320d and a black Fiat Punto, all of which were said to have been travelling towards the city centre.

His family today paid tribute, saying: "Neil was a lovely man who would help anyone he could, old or young.
"He will be missed by many," they said.
The driver of the BMW, a 51-year-old man from Cleator Moor, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious injury.
He has since been released under investigation.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.

They would also like to hear from anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage.
