AN inquest has opened into the death of a young man who lost his life in a collision earlier this month.
Leighton Skelton of Carlisle, born January 18, 2004, died on May 1 in a fatal car crash in Westlinton.
The inquest was opened at Cockermouth Coroners' Court this morning, and adjourned until a provisional date of October 4.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:50pm, near the Cliff Inn at Westlinton on the A6071.
Police, fire search and rescue and ambulance attended the incident.
Mr Skelton was pronounced dead at the scene.

Collision investigation officers launched an appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.
