Collinson Construction, who have been instructed by Eden Council to take on the Voreda House project, have signed up to a scheme. 

The firm have signed up to the Considerate Constructors Scheme as part of their refurbishment of the zero carbon headquarters in Penrith. 

By registering with the Scheme, Collinson Construction has made a commitment to operate in a considerate manner at all times, showing care towards those affected by the works at Voreda House and the wider community, as well as those who work on the site, and the natural environment.

Councillor Karen Greenwood, Resources Portfolio Holder at Eden District Council, said: "The Considerate Constructor Scheme reflects that it is not solely the main contractor who delivers a project, but rather the wider ‘construction team’.

"Subcontractors, suppliers, support services, senior management and operatives all have a role to play and of course, Eden District Council will also play an important role in ensuring that the project at Voreda House is run with as much consideration for the local community, and its environment, as is possible."

Started in 1997, the Scheme was set up by the UK construction industry to improve its image and now registers over 8,000 sites, whilst conducting over 15,000 site visits each year. The Scheme is a non-profit-making independent organisation founded by the industry and recommended by local authorities and the Government.

"Collinson will work alongside key project partners – from Eden District Council to designers and sub-contractors – as well as engaging with the local community to deliver the project considerately in line with the scheme’s core values.

"We distributed the first letter drop to the local residents ahead of commencing on site in March, with the next quarterly update due shortly, in June."
