A WIGTON school has commemorated the upcoming Jubilee celebrations with a re-enactment of Queen Elizabeth’s coronation.
Thomlinson Junior School staged a recreation of the event, which took place on Tuesday, June 2, 1953.
The event, which reflected Her Majesty becoming the 39h Sovereign to be crowned at Westminster Abbey, saw the students from Thomlinson Junior School playing key parts, dressed in 1950s fashion.
Everyone involved in the ceremony, from the Queen to the Archbishop of Canterbury, was acted out by the pupils.
Teacher Julie Wilson said: "We just wanted the children to be involved as much as they could.
"We wanted them to experience it, to live the moment. That's the best way for children to learn obviously, make a memory for them, something they'll remember in the future."
Charlie Holloway, a pupil in Year Three followed: "It's a big thing, she's had 70 years on the throne."
The re-enactment was just one of the many events the school has planned to celebrate the historic milestone.
Some of the pupils recently visited Carlisle Dance Academy where they were learned Bollywood dancing from India, a country that is still a part of the Commonwealth since it became a member in 1947.
