MARATHON MAN Gary Mckee continues to 'hoss on' in his epic 365 marathon challenge, as he reaches the five months complete update.

The Cleator Moor athlete has been running marathons since January 1 this year with the goal of raising one million pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support and Hospice at Home West Cumbria.

Speaking in his latest Whitehaven News diary, Gary said: "So that’s 5 months completed and 4000 miles ran. Last week I was joined by pupils from Thornhill school, St James’ school, St Patrick’s (Cleator Moor) and Valley school and they were all a credit to themselves and their schools.

"I love seeing kids doing exercise and enjoying it. Michael Watson is also doing fantastically well getting through the Wainwrights.

"He’s bagged 351 which leaves him 149 to do and he’s hoping to have them completed in July. That’s some going.

"I’ve had lots more people joining me running with one person coming all the way from Manchester at the weekend. He enjoyed it so much that he’s coming back this weekend and has pledged to run 20 marathons with me. To think I’ll be half way through at the end of this month is crazy but also shows how quickly time goes in.

"In 3 weeks' time daylight hours will be getting shorter and summer isn’t even here yet.

"I introduced my 20th pair of running shoes to my collection this week so if you averaged that I’ve ran about 200 miles in each pair.

"None are worn out and still provide good support and it’s great that I can rotate them knowing they’re helping me in what I do. Still plenty of time for people who want to join me wether it be a mile or a marathon or even do a fundraiser of your own.

"As they say in Tesco every little helps.

"And in a life where we can be anything, be yourself."
