The village of Hawkshead is celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a sit-down tea party for more than 250 people in the village square.

Residents in the village are spending their weekend baking to ensure that everyone is well fed, and everything for the event has been donated by both local residents and businesses. The event will take place on Sunday, June 5 2022.

"A plaque will commemorate this event showing the years of birth of the seniors and the babies. These trees will replace some of the beautiful trees lost in the village during the recent storms.

"At 1pm there will be an afternoon tea with live music, games and storytelling for the children by a local storyteller.

"We are also celebrating a number of local heroes calling them Hawkshead Heroes, who have given a lot to the community especially during the COVID pandemic and subsequent storms when the village was without power."
