OFFICERS used security cameras to track down a man who was seen assaulting a woman at a railway station.
Samuel Fuller was convicted of assaulting Taylor Rigg by beating her at Dalton Railway Station on November 20.
The 20-year-old admitted the offence when he appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court.
A spokesman for British Transport Police Lancashire said they received a report of a woman being assaulted but had no idea who the suspect or victim were.
The force used CCTV to track Fuller’s movements and ‘persistence’ led to his identification and arrest.
Fuller, of Newton Cross Road in Newton, was ordered to complete 55 hours of unpaid work by the court after being sentenced to a community order.
He was also ordered to pay a £95 victim surcharge and £85 in cost
