Six Cumbrian charities will benefit at the latest Great Community Race Day at Carlisle Racecourse this weekend.
Saturday's event will see £1 from every ticket sold in advance go into the charity pot.
It will be shared by BEE UNIQUE, Calvert Trust Lake District, Diff-Ability, Every Life Matters, Eden Animal Rescue and the Great North Air Ambulance Service, who each also have races named after them.
The race day is being sponsored by OEE Container Technology Limited for the second year running, with the event designed to raise the profile of the charities' work - particularly after many charities were hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
OEE have also set up a fundraiser on GoFundMe to raise more money for the charities, via https://gofund.me/aa67e575

Molly Dingwall, the outgoing general manager at Carlisle Racecourse, said: “I would like to thank OEE Container Technology Limited for its generous support of the Great Community Race Day at Carlisle for the second year running.
“The effects of the Covid-19 pandemic continue to be felt and the efforts of charities on the ground is vital in helping local communities to continue to recover.
“We are therefore very happy to give these six Cumbrian charities the maximum possible publicity on Saturday, July 2 and urge racegoers to be as generous as they can in supporting them.”
Sue Jones, Managing Director, OEE Container Technology Limited, added: “By raising awareness, it could help save a person’s life, save an animal, give people additional support and advice who need it most, and we are overjoyed to be able to run this day and give this opportunity to these deserving charities.
“We hope the community can come together and attend the race day in support of our local area. We would also like to thank the charities for all their efforts, and all at Carlisle Racecourse and The Jockey Club for their continued support.”
