A historical society will be putting on a guided walk surrounding the topic of industrial archaeology.
Called ‘the industrial archaeology of Tynehead’, the Alston Moor Historical Society announced this event following on from their meeting on Zoom on June 2.
A spokesperson from Alston Moor Historical Society said in a post that the walk leader will be Graham Brooks, chair of Cumbria local history federation.
Would-be walkers are being asked to meet at the cattle grid past the Hill Farm which is marked on the map as Hill House.
The walk will cover a distance of around one kilometre, the society said, and it will be ‘very rough’ going, however a detour along the track has been arranged for anyone who may find themselves unable to manage the original route.
Otherwise, the walk will be along the Moor House road with optional diversions.
The walk to Tynehead will start at 10:30 am.
All are welcome to take part in the walk and it is free of charge, however, they will be encouraging participants to support their society financially by joining them for £10 per year.
Walkers are also asked to wear appropriate clothing and boots, and to bring a picnic.
