A portable toilet company in Carlisle is now able to supply all of the north of England after a significant business acquisition.
Border Group, based in Carlisle, has announced its buying of Teesdale Event Site Services (TESS), which provides showers and toilets for building sites and events.
This complements Border Group’s BorderLoos portfolio as they now will have their presence known in the Northeast as well, and can supply the whole of the North, from West Cumbria to Tyneside, strengthening their construction, welfare, and events divisions.
Henry Lloyd, Border Group’s managing director, said: “It has been just over a year since Border Group was acquired by machinery dealer Lloyd Ltd, and we feel this is the ideal opportunity to continue to grow the business after a successful first year of operations.”
Border Group was founded in 1989 under the BorderLoos brand specialising in portable toilets, then moving to offer temporary road and pedestrian safety barrier systems in 2000 across Europe.
Since its acquisition by Lloyd Ltd, one of the UK’s largest machinery dealers, in 2021 when it was rebranded Border Group, the company has continued its success.
TESS owners Sarah and Gareth Hinchliffe said: “We have been running the business since 1999 and are incredibly proud of the way it has grown with such a loyal customer base.
“Given the challenges of recent years, we decided now was the right time for us to focus on our other activities and in Border Group we have found the ideal partner to continue to develop the business.
“We will be working closely with Henry and the Border Group team for a while to ensure a seamless transition.
“We would like to thank our valued customers for your support over the years and look forward to seeing you continue with Border Group who will maintain the quality of service we pride ourselves on.”
Henry added: “Like Border Group and Lloyd Ltd, TESS is a family-run business with a loyal and extensive customer base.
“We, therefore, intend for TESS to continue to trade under its current branding for the foreseeable future and the TESS team will be working as normal to offer the same excellent service for which they are renowned.
“We are looking forward to bringing our businesses together and moving the company forward.”
