POLICE and fire crews were called out to a car crash last night.
Two fire engines and several police vehicles attended the crash which happened on Longtown Road in Brampton.
The fire engines were called out at 8:01pm to a report of a crash last night (July 20, 2022).
The crash involved only one vehicle, and fire crews extricated one casualty from it.
Crews were detained for approximately one hour and 45 minutes.
A spokesperson from Cumbria police said: "Police were called to the scene of a single vehicle collision at 7:56 pm yesterday (July 20) on Longtown Road, Brampton.
"The incident was reported to involve a Ford Fiesta and a road sign.
"The driver, a local male in his 30’s, was taken to hospital with injuries described as minor.
"The road was closed whilst emergency services attended the scene and vehicle recovery took place."
A passer-by who saw the incident said the 'serious' collision had taken place on Longtown Road in the town at its junction with Carlisle Road, adjacent to the town's police station.
"From what I could see there is a severely damaged black car partly on the pavement of Longtown Road and a group of five or six police officers are stood outside of the town's police station," they said.
"As well as Longtown Road being closed, Carlisle Road is also closed."
They said police vehicles were on Carlisle Road and police tape closed the road.
