Carlisle Youth Zone are pleased to announce the return of the Lego Competition with hopes of to inspire a future generation of builders and architects. 

The competition is run with the support of local architects and CYZ patrons Unwin Jones Partnership and last year, the competition received over 100 entries from young people from right across the city. 

The theme for 2022 is create a Lego model of a tree house, from simple to elaborate, all is welcome and the prize up for grabs this year is a Nintendo Switch alongside runner

The launch of the competition starts on July 25 and will run to August 26. 

Jez Marvin, director at Unwin Jones Partnership said: “We were delighted by the quality of the entries last year which were truly amazing. They showed a wealth of imaginative ideas in all age groups. Many of the builds were highly detailed, intricate, and clearly well thought out.

"There were some fantastic creations, many of which featured waste reduction and energy saving ideas to help protect the environment, which was really encouraging. We can’t wait to see this year’s entries. We’ve introduced the team category – buildings are designed and built by teams of people and we’re excited to see the results of young people working together and bouncing ideas off each other," he said. 

The competition is open to young people aged between 6-16 years old, prizes will be awarded for 1st 2nd and 3rd in each age category, you can enter as an individual or as a team of two. 

Each entry must include five images of the models with at least one image of the participant holding their model.

Those who wish to enter are being asked to attend Lego workshops at CYZ or BrickStation. CYZ are running sessions throughout the summer, more info about becoming a member and attending the sessions can be found online by visiting www.carlisleyouthzone.org.
