CHILDREN aged 16 and under will have the opportunity to enjoy summer swimming for just 10pence a dip.
The initiative, being offered by Allerdale Borough Council, will allow kids to take advantage of the swimming pools in Workington, Cockermouth, and Wigton Baths.
In addition for those interested gaining confidence in open water swimming, sessions are also taking place in Keswick’s Derwent Water as part of a half-day holiday programme of outdoor activities.
The scheme started on July 25 and will continue throughout the school summer holidays.
Councillor Jim Lister, Allerdale Borough Council’s Executive member with responsibility for sports development, said: "I’m delighted to see the return swimming activities over the summer months.
"The 10p swims sessions have particularly proved incredibly popular over the years. One of the Council’s priorities is to improve the health of wellbeing of our communities and the scheme makes this possible for many children across Allerdale.”
The 10p swimming sessions are only available to Allerdale residents.
