THE mother of former Carlisle United footballer Danny Hodgson, who was seriously injured in an unprovoked attack last year, has given a heartbreaking update on his condition.
Danny was taken into hospital on Monday, July 25 after having a seizure at home.
On Monday, his mother Nicola Hodgson said: "Waking up to hear Danny Hodgson is in Charles Gardiner hospital having scans and tests after having a seizure this morning breaks my heart.
"When will my boy catch a break?
"Wish I could cuddle my boy and be there for him."
Danny had tests throughout the day. His blood tests came back normal, there is something slightly larger on his brain chamber than the last time he was in hospital - but no bleeding on the brain was identified.
Danny was kept in hospital over night so he could be monitored but was finally released yesterday with medication to control the seizures.
Nicola thanked people for their messages of support in what has been a difficult time for the family.
Nicola said: "Thank you everyone for your love and messages of support to Danny, Jess and family. Means a lot in uncertain times, my boy goes home today with medication to control the seizures and hopefully it will work."
Nicola has also been encouraging the public to send letters or emails to the Attorney General of WA county to change the law in Australia.
She said: "I have had lots of beautiful private messages of support and people's own stories of being attacked in Perth with life-changing injuries and the perpetrators getting away with, literally at times, murder.
"There is 35,000 online signatures to add to your personal support please add this number in your email."
"Thank you all for your continued support and love."
It follows the devastating incident last September when he was the victim of an unprovoked one-punch attack by a teenage boy, who has since been sentenced to three years and eight months in juvenile detention.
Former Carlisle United youth footballer Danny was left fighting for his life but has astounded doctors and his family with his recovery.
