A GROUP of Gypsies and Travellers have arrived over the weekend to a village just outside Carlisle, with reports being made of a number of 'anti-social incidents' within the town since their arrival.
The group has set up in Dalston, at the privately owned Rickerby's Farm, for a religious ceremony and are scheduled to remain there into this week.
One resident spoke about how they witnessed 'stones thrown at residences and locals', litter strewn across the town alongside a high speed police chase - though it was not confirmed that all the anti-social incidents are linked to the event.

Another resident on social media however, was in full praise of the group and reached out to members of the Dalston community to visit and see for themselves what the religious meet is all about.
Carlisle City Councillor Elizabeth Mallinson has praised both Cumbria Police and Carlisle City Council for getting a handle on the situation, and she has said the anti-social behaviour has now subsided.
"It was a lot quieter last night, but the other night was complete mayhem.
"Dalston community have been very courteous in as much as they're concerned at what's been going on.
"Our Cumbria Constabulary have been exceptionally good in the way they've handled this, diplomatically and with a sensitivity because of the community involved, they have been outstanding.
"I'd like to say a big thank you to the Chief Constable and Peter McCall because he has put a lot of money into 'Safer Communities' and it's paid off.
"I'm really disappointed that these travellers have sent out the wrong message about their community, quite often it's the perception that follows them, and in this case the perception has been correct in down-right anti-social behaviour.
"They should be ambassadors for their community and they've let their community down," she said.
Dalston residents hope this issue doesn't put people off the village festival scheduled for this weekend.
A spokesperson from Cumbria Police said: "Cumbria Police is aware of issues in the Dalston area over the weekend and into this week.
"Issues reported are primarily anti-social behaviour, including anti-social driving in the area.
"The issues have emerged following the arrival of a group who rented land in the area for an event and others – some of whom may not be linked to the event.
"Police are working with local council partners and the landowner to resolve the situation and have increased patrols in the area.
"Police are encouraging people to come forward if they believe they have witnessed criminality.
"You can report online at cumbria.police.uk/reportit You can also phone on 101.
"Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
"Always call 999 in an emergency," they said.
