A BUSINESS has risen above Covid and lockdown fears and prospered through a new venture.
Legendary Sauces, which is stocked in a select few shops in Cumbria, started after a Yorkshire family’s café shut due to lockdown.
The family is a young one, with Sarah and Richard Gore’s daughter Eden being born in late 2020.
At the time they owned a café in the Yorkshire Dales, but they had to sell it because of lockdown.
After leaving, they left and moved to Cumbria, where Sarah is originally from, to be closer to family.
Richard has been making his own chilli sauces for years and during their last year in the café, started to sell them.
Sarah said: “They were getting very good feedback from customers.
“After leaving the café, we decided to make Legendary Sauce Company our full-time business and started selling at markets and food festivals around Cumbria, Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cheshire in 2021.
“We got a few local stockists in the process, Low Sizergh Barn Farm Shop, Graythwaite Farm Shop and the National Park Gift Shops at Bowness and Keswick.
“Just this month we have found out our first sauce, Roasted Garlic Aleppo, has been awarded a Great Taste Award.”
Sarah is from Whitehaven originally and they now live in the southern Lake District, but most of her family is from West and North Cumbria.
She added: “We’ve managed to get a few wholesale customers as well when we started food festivals.
“We got this one-star award from Great Taste Award for our first sauce, which was just massive for us.
“We really haven’t been going on for a very long time, so we are really excited to get that.”
