A CARLISLE shoplifter whose lifestyle was described as “chaotic” has admitted stealing goods worth more than £180 from Poundland.
Corrina Kirkpatrick, 32, of Close Street, stole from the St Nicholas Gate store on two consecutive days in March, the city’s Rickergate court heard. She stole household goods worth £104 on March 8.
The following day, she stole yet more goods, this time worth £80. She was identified after staff noted that goods were missing and checked CCTV images.
Her defence lawyer Mark Shepherd said that the defendant was recently released from a 27 week jail term for “numerous thefts.”
He argued that the two thefts before the court should have been dealt with on the last occasion when she would have been unlikely to face extra custody. Magistrates imposed a one year conditional discharge.
Kirkpatrick must also pay Poundland £184 compensation.
