Cumbria's poshest village has been named as the picturesque market village of Hawkshead.
It comes as more and more families swap the busy everyday hustle and bustle of city life for a more calm, collected and fresh air atmosphere of the countryside.
Estate agents Savills saw a 60 per cent rise in demand for rental homes in the most desirable countryside locations across the UK with people opting to rent in the country while waiting for a property to become available in their chosen area.
The news comes as The Telegraph shares research from Savills on the most desirable villages in each county.

The research is based on a mix of the highest house prices, best lifestyle amenities, connectivity and even chocolate-box appeal.
And now one of Cumbria's own, have been named among the poshest places to live in UK, beating a host of local competitors in doing so, thanks to its wealth of appeal and welcoming locals.

The picturesque market village of Hawkshead might not be the priciest village in the county with the average house costing £460,001 compared to the nearby spot of Cartmel Fell of £803,980.
But it does boast a host of luxury lifestyles in the spacious countryside as one of the most established and popular spots with plenty of life.
Hawkshead is north of Esthwaite Water and has beautiful houses with stone houses, old arches and squares with connections to historical figures including William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter.
