An HR company has launched a project to support net-zero ambitions in the local business community.

Claire McLean, founder of Realise HR in Carlisle, launched the project, called Realise Forest, to also provide local schoolchildren with learning opportunities around reducing carbon emissions.

Breaking ground in June this year, the forest is a collaborative space which aims to help promote sustainability within the region, offering businesses the opportunity to donate and plant trees at an annual tree planting event.

Claire said: “We all know we should be doing more to look after the planet.

“As a business, we emit relatively low carbon emissions, but we know we can always do more.

“Having never planted a tree before, we approached the Woodland Trust, who advised us on the variety of trees to plant, how and when to plant them. Kingmoor Park has kindly provided us with a fantastic space to grow our forest and help us in our ambitions for a cleaner, greener Carlisle.”

Harvey Scowcroft, property manager of Kingmoor Park, said: “Our ethos at Kingmoor Park, through our sustainability initiative is to take steps to strive towards being a more sustainable and net zero emissions business park.

“One way in which we are doing that is through our partnership with Realise HR on their tree planting endeavour.

“We are pleased to see that Realise has got on board with our ethos and look forward to seeing their business and trees grow in harmony.”
