Attempts to find a missing sprocker spaniel in the Lake District are entering their second month.
Alex Hodgson, 22, was enjoying a walk on Haystacks Fell in the Buttermere Valley on Wednesday, August 3 when her sprocker spaniel Apollo disappeared, having impulsively followed a scent trail that had captured his interest.
Alex spent several hours scouring the fell for her missing dog but there was no sign of him.
The attempt to find missing Apollo has been a huge community effort with hikers, campers and even drone pilots searching the countryside for a sight of Apollo.
‘’The positive feedback from social media and those making a conscious effort on the ground has kept me positive. We still have no sightings, meaning Apollo could have travelled far and wide’’ said dedicated owner Alex Hodgson on the ‘Find Apollo the Sprocker’ Facebook page which now has nearly 9,000 followers.
‘’Apollo’s coat could be a little longer by now but that long straight uninterrupted white stripe below his chin and onto his chest is a good thing to look out for especially if you spot any new Spaniels being walked in your town or village.
Alex has urged anyone walking in surrounding area to look for Apollo ‘’checking under rocks, down holes and any places of shelter.’’
There is a £1,000 reward for the safe return of Apollo and anyone with any information is urged to get in touch with Alex.
