Gretna 2008 FC have placed Michael McIndoe in caretaker charge after the resignation of manager Stephen Hatfield.
The Raydale Park have turned to former Yeovil Town, Doncaster Rovers, Bristol City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Coventry City star McIndoe to lead them on a temporary basis after Hatfield's departure.
McIndoe was assistant to Hatfield but the 42-year-old now steps up at the Lowland League club, who have endured a poor start to the season.
Gretna said McIndoe will take charge "for our upcoming games".
Their club statement, on behalf of chairman Alex Thomson, added: "We are sorry to see Stephen go, but feel sure he will be back at the club in some capacity at some point in the future.
"For now, we must try to move the club forward and thank Michael for taking on the challenge, and we wish him well."
Former Scotland B international McIndoe joined Gretna as sporting director and assistant manager in May.
Their squad includes Carlisle United loan winger Lewis Bell.
