RESIDENTS of Cumbria can still apply for up to £25,000 in financial support to improve the efficiency and environmental impact of their home.

Cumbrian district councils are collaborating to hand out the grants under the Sustainable Warmth Local Authority Delivery Scheme.

A spokesperson for Carlisle City Council said: “If your household income is below £30,000 and your home has low energy performance, you could be eligible for a Government grant up to £25,000 towards insulation and low carbon heating measures like heat pumps and solar panels.”

Grants are designed to make homes in Cumbria “warmer and more comfortable” whilst supporting the reduction of energy bills and carbon emissions.

Private landlords can apply for the grants on behalf of qualifying tenants.

Residents of Carlisle can apply for a Sustainable Warmth Grant by emailing homelife@carlisle.gov.uk or completing an application form from the carlisle.gov.uk

The council said: "The funding aims to boost the local economy to retrofit a target 1,310 owner occupied and privately tenanted homes with energy efficiency installations and low carbon heating. Projects that upgrade homes with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of E, F or G will be prioritised. Upgrades to properties with an EPC rating of D will be limited.”
