A COUPLE who got engaged at the foot of Blencathra have celebrated a stylish wedding - before jetting off to the Caribbean.

Judith Pigg, 29, and Peter Watson, 42, of Wigton were married this summer at an amazing service.

Peter is a farming contractor for Littles at Kirkbride and Judith is a hairdresser at The Shearing Shed hair salon in Orton Grange.

The couple first met after a night out in Carlisle in 2012, after a few years apart the couple got back together in 2018.

Peter proposed to Judith at a bench at the bottom of Blencathra on June 6, 2022, after a Sunday afternoon walk on the Keswick to Threlkeld line.

The couple were married at St Mary's Church in Wigton, and their reception was held at The Garden of Eden near Carlisle.

The bride's outfit consisted of Christina Wu A-line dress with the head piece and jewellery bought from Bridal House, Maryport. The veil was borrowed from the bride's sister Karen Watson.

Her hair was done by Lindsey Armstrong hair and Amy and Bethany from Amy’s Beauty at Envy provided the beauty treatment for the day.

The groom's best man was his friend Ian Kitchen, his ushers were Johnathon Parkin, his friend, Martin Watson, the bride's brother-in-law, Joseph Watson, the bride's nephew and Richard Watson, also the bride's nephew. His page boy was Tommy Graham, the bride's godson.

The bride's maid of honour was her sister Lesley Pigg; her bridesmaids were Karen Watson, her sister, Katie Graham, her best friend and Kate Pigg, the bride's sister-in-law.

Her flower girls were Jessica Pigg, her niece, and Millie Coulthard, her god-daughter.

The flowers for the service were provided by Sophie Brooksbank of Flowers by Sophie.

The main transport for the service was a Range Rover provided by Ben Hodgson Cars.

150 guests came along to the day reception and 60 guest joined extra for the evening reception.

All adults received a small bottle of Baileys; the bride and groom’s favourite drink.

All the ladies got a charity pin badge for hospice at home whilst all the men got a small box of chocolates.

The catering for the event was provided by The Garden of Eden and the cake was supplied by Jackie Steel who made a four-tier fruit and sponge cake, decorated with sugar paste flowers.

The couple's first dance was Shania Twain's 'You're Still The One', and evening entertainment was provided by Three River City band.

The couple will spend their honeymoon cruising around the Caribbean in November and also spent a couple of nights in Slayley Hall after their big day.

The photographer for the wedding day was Jill Harrington of Penrith and the videographer was Velvet Cow Media. 

The bride was given away by her brother Ashley Pigg and she is the daughter of Linda and the late John Pigg. The groom is the son of Dorothy Watson and John Watson.

Peter’s pride and joy from work was at the wedding reception - a Claas Jaguar 990 Forage Harvester!
